How do you handle eating out with individuals who don't know about your diabetes?
21-year-old here, been managing diabetes privately for a while now. None of my friends know.
The hardest part for me isn't the medical management, honestly. It's the social situations. When everyone decides last-minute to go somewhere, I have to quietly figure out what I can eat without making it obvious or having to explain myself.
I just sit there, mentally calculating, while everyone else is enjoying themselves. Gets exhausting.
Wondering if anyone else deals with this, specifically the social eating piece, when people around you don't know. How do you handle it? Have you found anything that actually helps?
Not selling anything, genuinely just trying to understand if this is a common experience or just me.
