Need advice on breaking up with controlling partner who tracks my every move
So I'm a 34F and I've been with this guy for about 15 months now and things have gotten really suffocating. When we first started dating he got me to install this location sharing app supposedly for safety reasons like if one of us had an accident or whatever. seemed reasonable at the time but now it feels like he's monitoring my every movement
Every time I leave the office or head out anywhere he immediately calls demanding to know where I'm going and what I'm doing. We're constantly on these marathon phone calls that go for hours every single night and most weekends. He claims he gets anxious if we're not talking but I'm starting to think its more about control than anxiety. Sometimes we just sit there in silence on the phone which used to feel intimate but now just feels draining
The conversations are mostly him going on about his hobbies while I'm sitting there exhausted after long days managing IT projects. I've been under a lot of pressure at work lately and I just want some peace when I get home
He also guilts me whenever I don't visit him early enough and his place is like an hour and a half drive away in traffic. He never comes to mine either which is pretty convenient for him I guess
I'm done with this whole situation and ready to move on but breaking up seems complicated when someone is used to knowing where you are 24/7 and talking constantly. Plus I'd rather find someone who doesn't live so far away and won't treat me like a possession
Anyone dealt with a partner who uses tracking apps to monitor you? How do you end things cleanly when they're this controlling? I'm worried about how he'll react when I try to disconnect
TL;DR Partner tracks my location and calls constantly making me feel trapped. Want to break up but concerned about his reaction to losing constant contact and surveillance
