How to recover data from old ssd?

I had a 2017 Non Touchbar MacBook Pro A1708. I bought a new MacBook Pro and would like to recover the data from the old one. The old one no longer works and I need help. I have pulled out the ssd and I bought a ssd drive enclosure that was recommended. The problem is I don't understand how I am supposed to connect the ssd to the enclose because the ssd itself is wider than the enclosure itself. Does anyone know what I can do to make it work? Can anyone recommend an ssd enclosure that should work for the ssd? Just to reiterate I already have removed the ssd but I can't figure out how I am supposed to connect it to the ssd enclosure.
