Thank you so much for everyone who has posted in this group! A week ago, I was certain that I was going to need surgery due to an abscess that I’ve had for at least four months. 

I’m in my mid-40s and this abscess was my first experience of an issue from pilonidal cyst. The location meant it got rubbed and pressed and no “first aid” helped. Y’all know how it is.

When the abscess didn’t go away after a couple of months, I met with my GP and then saw a great specialist- and I do think that the only way to be rid of this disease is through a cleft lift and that was the route I was going to go. This group helped me wrap my head around the idea and become comfortable with proceeding with that surgery - but y’all also made me realize that I’ve had this cyst for over 20 years and it never really bothered me. No flareups, no pain, nothing until this recent abscess. As people shared that the surgery was so much better than the pain and issues around recurring, chronic abscesses and flareups, I thought “that that’s not me.”

So I thought “hey, let me give it a try to reduce the abscess in non-surgical ways first.” 

My kids are always getting splinters and Prids salve has been amazing for that. I’ve never had boils or abscesses, but did notice that the salve is for that as well. I also use homeopathy pellets for some first aid and thought I’d look up if there was one recommended for pilonidal cysts. Homeopathy works in different ways on different people even when they are dealing with the same or similar disease/symptom - but Silicea was a clear and common recommendation for pilonidal cysts. Which is great because it’s one that is commonly carried in natural food stores or anywhere that sells homeopathy pellets.

After four days of treatment, my abscess was remarkably better and even the cyst feels smaller, so stopped treatment. (All for $15)

AM - Wake up, take one pellet Silicea 30c (melt under tongue, nothing but water at least 30min before/after)

PM - Brush teeth, then apply Prid salve to bandaid, place on abcess, take one pellet Silicea 30c at least 15min after brushing teeth

If you don’t see improvements writhing 2-3 days, stop. 

Don’t continue daily treatment beyond a week 

I’m not a doctor, but thought it was important to share this experience, especially for people who have mild cases, are starting on their pilonidal cyst journey, or want to try this for additional support.
