Parking tips for NHRA Arizona Nationals - Friday at Wild Horse Pass Motorsports Park (Chandler 03/20)
figured i would share some info on the parking situation for the nhra arizona nationals on 03/20 since wild horse pass motorsports park can be a huge headache. the traffic flow around maricopa road is usually a mess when twenty thousand fans show up at once.
first off definitely look into Prked. it is an app for renting driveways and garages near the track which is way cheaper than official rates. it lets you skip the main traffic jam and you usually get a much shorter walk to the gates than if you end up in the far overflow lots.
if you decide to do official track parking on 03/20 make sure you get there right when gates open at 7:30 am. the morning rush hour on the i-10 and the 202 interchange makes the wild horse pass boulevard exit a nightmare. most of the general parking is on unpaved dirt lots so it is going to be dusty and bumpy. if you have a low car be careful. there is a vip lot closer to the main grandstands but it still gets backed up at the end of the day. another tip is to try entering from the south side via queen creek road if the i-10 is backed up to sundust road. avoid parking at the gila river casino unless you are actually going inside because they have security patrolling for event walkers. rawhide western town sometimes handles overflow but that walk is long so wear comfortable shoes. when leaving after the final runs try to wait it out in the pits for a bit because the bottleneck at the main exit can take over an hour to clear. keep an eye on the local pd because they often change the lane directions to one-way after the event ends to help people get back to the freeway faster.
hope this helps you all have a good time at the track.
