Feeling triggered on my vacation but staying strong
I’m 593 days into my sobriety and am currently in Hawaii with my family to celebrate my cousin’s wedding in two days. They’re all supportive of my sobriety, and I really appreciate them. However, I can’t help but feel left out and sad at times when they’re all drinking and I’m the only one who isn’t.
It’s been a while since I’ve felt triggered, and I think it’s the camaraderie I miss when it comes to drinking with my family, the familiar comfort I used to have when we’d drink together. But I realize drinking isn’t worth it because I don’t know how to control it, and my hangovers are so depressing.
I’m reminding myself that my mental health is so much better without alcohol and drugs, and that’s what’s motivating me to keep pushing through. One day at a time ❤️
