Title: Leave a permanent job for a remote contract role?
I have around 3 years of experience in a data-related role (SQL, scraping, data pipelines). I currently have a stable full-time job in India and my company offered me around 8 LPA if I stay.
At the same time, I received a remote opportunity with an international company as a contractor. The pay is about (roughly ₹90k+ per month depending on exchange rate).
My dilemma:
- Current job: permanent, stable, salary slip, easier for loans.
- Remote role: higher pay and international exposure, but contractual and less stable.
I’m early in my career and also planning marriage next year, so stability matters.
Would leaving a permanent role for a remote contract opportunity be a bad move? Also, if I work there for 6–12 months, would it be hard to switch back to a permanent job in the Indian market?
Would appreciate honest opinions from people who have faced something similar.
