Why am I so bad at this game (STS1&2)?

I’ve always loved rougelikes and deckbuilders but this is the only one I can’t improve at. I win 1/25 games.

I recently started STS2 and love necrobinder. Still dogfart at the game.

What exactly is the meta? Should I look up the entire card pool and plan? Should I prioritize deleting basic cards (and replacing them with better versions?) I often don’t go for hand filling or drawing however when I try it, I’m much too weak.

I refuse to believe I’m just unlucky, I think just bad. Sometimes I get great runs then get mauled by specific enemies. Is there a real emphasis like in hearthstone BGs for specific cards/strats?

I’m just completely at a loss. This is the only rougelike I can’t crack.
