My mom thought I was secretly smoking because of the weird stuff in my room

Hi, I’m 15 and something kind of funny happened today.

Tonight I was lying in my room with the window open when my mom suddenly came in and asked me very seriously if I was smoking. She asked why there were matches and razor blades in my room, why there was a syringe in my makeup bag, and why I always keep my window open even when it’s winter.

There are actually simple explanations.

Sometimes I can’t find scissors, so I use razor blades for small things. I just like working with them for cutting stuff. The matches were in my pocket because we live in a private house and we often use our outdoor fireplace, so I probably just forgot them there.

I keep the window open because I like fresh air. Recently I noticed a weird smell in my room and I think it might be from the carpet. The carpet is really big and under furniture, so it’s hard to clean it right now. I’m waiting until it gets warmer.

And the syringe… this sounds weird but I have blackheads on my nose and I once tried to remove them using the needle from a syringe out of curiosity.

I think she got suspicious because of things happening at my school. One girl in my class ran away from home and got pregnant by a 40-year-old man. Another classmate got sent to juvenile detention because of drugs and fighting.

So my mom probably got worried and thought I might be doing something bad too.

Honestly I just started laughing when she asked me. Her serious face immediately turned awkward and then she started smiling too. The whole situation ended up being kind of funny.
