Parking tips for Monster Jam at Mississippi Coast Coliseum & Convention Center (Biloxi 03/14)
hey guys, figured i'd share some thoughts on the parking situation for monster jam on 03/14. if you have been to the coliseum for a big event before, you know that highway 90 becomes a total parking lot itself, so you really need a game plan to avoid missing the start of the show.
honestly your best bet is to use Prked to find a spot. you can rent out someones driveway or a private garage right near the coliseum which is way cheaper than the official lots and saves you from the nightmare of trying to exit the main gates afterward. the coliseum lots are famous for taking forever to clear out - sometimes up to an hour - so being able to just walk a few blocks to a private spot and drive away is a huge win.
if you decide to use the official coliseum lots, they have seven lots and a garage with over 3000 spaces, but it will cost you 10 dollars plus tax. the most important thing to know is that they are now completely cashless, so do not show up with just bills - you have to have a credit or debit card ready for the attendants. a big pro tip for getting in faster is to avoid the main entrance on highway 90 and try to use the gates off beauvoir road instead. it usually flows a lot smoother and helps you bypass the worst of the beach traffic that bottlenecks near the front gate.
since the pit party starts at 10:30am and the main show is at 1:00pm, the lots are going to start filling up really early. i have seen the coliseum lots hit capacity as early as 10:00am for big saturday events like this, so definitely aim to get there at least ninety minutes or two hours before you want to be inside. if the main lots are packed, you can sometimes find spots at the treasure bay casino across the street or even at the edgewater mall nearby, but be careful with residential streets because the biloxi police are pretty strict about ticketing and towing in those neighborhoods during big shows. you might also see some private park-n-play lots in vacant fields nearby where you can pay a local to park.
if you are taking an uber or lyft, the coliseum has drop-off and pick-up areas on the south side by the flagpoles and on the northwest side of the arena. this is usually way faster than sitting in the gridlocked lot. for traffic, try to stay off highway 90 by using pass road or back bay boulevard to get as close as possible. if the congestion gets too heavy, the police might start venting traffic, which basically means they force everyone to drive away from the coliseum toward the interstate to clear the road, so just be prepared for some detours. hope this helps you guys have a smooth trip and a great time at the show.
