Quick Solar Mining Poll: 2x S19k Pro (~$700 each) vs 3x Avalon Q (~$1800 each) – Hash, Cost, Power Comparison Needed!
Got excess solar in California, smart controls to mine only when sunny, 240V ready. Want to start small at home.
Options I’m eyeing:
• 2x Antminer S19k Pro — ~$700 each = ~$1,400 total
Each: 120 TH/s, ~2760W → Total: 240 TH/s, ~5520W
• 3x Canaan Avalon Q — ~$1800 each = ~$5,400 total
Each: 90 TH/s, ~1674W → Total: 270 TH/s, ~5022W
S19k Pros are way cheaper per TH (about half the cost for similar hash), but louder (~75 dB) so they’d go in a backyard shed. Avalons are quieter (~45 dB claimed) for garage, but garage wall = bedroom, noise worry. Avalons also more efficient (~18.6 J/TH vs ~23 J/TH) and lower per-rig power—better for solar throttling?
Hash edge to Avalons (270 vs 240 TH/s), but 4x more upfront cost for just ~12% more hash. Power draw similar overall, but S19k batch might spike harder.
What do you think? Go cheap & loud with S19k Pros + shed build? Or pay premium for Avalon Q quiet/efficiency indoors? Any real-user noise feedback on Avalon Q near bedrooms? Better models for solar home setup?
