I’m done, I quit (updated post)
Hi adopt me players on Reddit! And hello everybody else…
Nearly 24 hours ago, I had lost my 7+ year account entirely. I made a post about it and I felt like I should make a new one to clear some things up, answer some questions, and uhh yeah…
First, you may be wondering, how did I get hacked? Many people said how I clicked on a link and put in my information. Spoiler alert, I’m not 5. I know basic internet safety, and even if I did do that I feel like I wouldn’t have made a post about it. I play on my pc which I only use for google and roblox. I’m homeschooled, which means I use google for all my homeschooling and then play roblox when I am finished. On my school account, I am unable to click on links. Sure, I use explorer, which they also could have possibly hacked my Microsoft account or got my information through cookies possibly. So, no. I didn’t give my password to anybody, nor do I even give out my username sometimes. And for the question of how I got hacked, sorry… if I could give you a clear, straightforward answer, I really would. I don’t even know myself.
I also lost my account because I didn’t have 2-step verification set up, once I was logged out they changed my password and added their email to my account.
Second, a little shorter, but I just wanted to say that even if someone were to put in their password in a fishy website, they are allowed to be sad and upset about it. There were a few comments saying how “because I put in my password into a fishy website, I need to learn how to be smarter.” That really pissed me off honestly. I am allowed to upset, mad, depressed, and overall have a severe attachment to that account.
Why do I have an attachment to a roblox account? It honestly has to do with trauma. I won’t say much because I don’t want it to sound like an excuse to be mentally unhealthy over a roblox account, but during middle school I was forced to live with my dad. I would get yelled at, sometimes even hit. He’s not a good person. I won’t be going into further detail as I am still trying to work out things myself about it, but I’ll try and answer any questions. During that time I would play roblox… For hours, it would distract me and make me feel happy and entertained and safe.
Third, some people were offering to help me grow my account and give me free pets. I am unsure if I am able to accept these offers as much as I wanted to because I fear of the same thing happening. And what if I did make a stupid mistake? I would feel like total garbage if these pets people worked so hard for was just given to me for free.
Though, a selfish part of me does want to accept it, and I know people feel good when they help others. I am open to any donations or trades (I don’t have much unfortunately…), I just wanted to let the people who offered rethink it through and ask themselves if they are positive if they are okay giving these for free. Other than that, if you want to donate stuff to me, I won’t decline. It’ll be very appreciated.
Fourth, my post was the most seen post on any of my reddit posts. Most of the comments were filled to the brim with peoples stories, experiences, and support. I have always loved the community, I have always played because of how nice and inclusive people were. Thank you all so much for your support.
Conclusion. Am I quitting? Honestly, I don’t think I will. I love this game. I am devastated, sure, but maybe its a sign to start over.
But, seriously. When I played the easter update today, I felt like I was just starting out as my child self again, playing through the Christmas update with my sisters. Sure, it’ll be hard to start again, but maybe it’s a miracle in disguise.
Besides, the day after I lost my account, my lure caught a frozen penguin! Maybe it was a sign! Maybe it’s my baby coming back to me… :)
Thank you all for your support and for reading all of this. You guys are truly awesome and one of the most positive communities that I have ever been in. Thank you, and rock on. (If you have any further questions, feel free to ask them! I’ll try to answer all of them.)
