Hi! I'm new to reddit so I really hope I'm uploading this correctly lol. So I have two wonderful pet birds, pictured above. The budgie is named Blueboy(male) and the sparrow is Takami(female). Blue is around 7 and Takami will be 6 this summer. As you can tell Takami is not a domestic breed of bird. She fell out of her nest as a baby and I raised her. When I got Takami I already had birds, Blue and two other budgies who have since past. Since Takami has been around Blue since she was a baby the two of them have always gotten along great.

However since I'm down to only these two I want to get more birds again because I don't want to leave one on their own should the other pass. Since Takami is a wild bird I'm worried about her being aggressive to a new bird I try to introduce. Adtionally, it doesn't fully show in the picture but Blue is very small for a budgie, he's the smallest one I've ever had. So I want a bird big enough that Takami couldn't instantly kill it if she got aggressive so I could have time to separate them but not something so big it could hurt her or Blue.

If it matters they live free in my (very birdproofed lol) room with two large cages they can come and go from as they please, 2 hanging perches, and a jungle gym esc structure, so they have a lot of options for roosts/ different food and water spots.

Does anyone have any advice on breeds that would work well with my mismatched littler flock? Thanks so much! :-D
