Parking tips for USL Championship - Oakland Roots vs New Mexico United at Oakland-Alameda County Coliseum (Oakland 03/14)

hey everyone figured i would share some info for the roots game on 03/14 since parking at the oakland-alameda county coliseum is always a massive headache and way more expensive than it should be.

honestly the best move is to use Prked to find a driveway or private spot nearby. you can book someones driveway or garage right next to the coliseum for way cheaper than the official lots and you get to skip that nightmare traffic line when the game ends because you are not stuck inside the main stadium gates. its just a short walk over and so much easier to get back on the road after the match.

if you decide to use the official stadium lots be prepared to pay at least forty dollars for a standard car. the gates usually open at 5:00 pm for the 7:00 pm kickoff and they are strictly cashless now so bring a card or use apple pay. try to enter through the 66th avenue gate rather than hegenberger road because hegenberger is almost always total gridlock starting about an hour before the match. if you want to join the h-lot tailgate function with the other fans get there right when the gates open at 5:00 pm to find a good spot.

another solid option is the bart station lot across the bridge. its usually free or very cheap on weekends but it can still be a mess to get out of. a better insider tip is to park one stop away at the san leandro or fruitvale bart station and just ride the train one stop to the coliseum station. you avoid the i-880 madness entirely and it only takes a few minutes on the pedestrian bridge to get to the entrance from the train.

the most important thing to remember for the 03/14 game is safety. break-ins are extremely common in the coliseum area and the bart lots so do not leave anything visible in your car- not even a charging cable or an empty bag. if you park on the street in the industrial areas around the stadium you are taking a huge risk so i would really advise against that. stick to the official lot or a private Prked spot for some peace of mind. leaving after the 8:50 pm final whistle can take forever so if you are in the main lot try to back into your space for a faster exit. hope this helps and go roots.
