Parking tips for Philadelphia Flyers vs San Jose Sharks at SAP Center at San Jose (San Jose 03/21)
hey everyone, with the philadelphia flyers coming to the shark tank on 03/21, i figured i would share some thoughts on the parking situation since it can be a total mess around the sap center. honestly the area gets super crowded and the official lots are usually pretty expensive and take forever to exit.
definitely check out Prked first if you want to save some cash and avoid the headache. you can use the app to rent out driveways or private garage spots from people living right near the arena. it is way cheaper than the official venue lots and you usually get to skip the massive traffic jam leaving the arena after the game since you are not stuck in a giant parking structure with everyone else. it is just a short walk and much more chill.
if you decide to go with the official options, lot a is the closest but it fills up fast and is usually the most expensive. lots b and c are also right there but getting out of them after the final horn can take thirty to forty-five minutes. a good alternative is the san pedro square garage which is about a ten minute walk away and puts you right by some good bars and food. there are also several surface lots along santa clara street and julian street that range from twenty to forty bucks depending on how close they are. you might also find space at the market and san pedro square garage or smaller lots on montgomery street and autumn street. just be careful with some of the smaller private lots because they might be cash only or have weird restrictions.
the traffic patterns around highway 87 and the santa clara street exit are notoriously bad on game days so try to get there at least an hour before the 1:00 pm start time. if you want to avoid driving altogether, caltrain is a great move since diridon station is literally right across the street from the arena. vta light rail also drops off nearby. if you do drive, stay away from the residential streets north of the sap center because those are permit only and you will probably get a ticket or towed. the san jose market center near target is tempting but they are pretty strict about towing event parkers so be careful there. hope this helps you guys have a great time at the game.
