BI-RADS 4 MRI Question re: "Irregular Mass"
I have read a few posts here and found a lot of you have had BIRADS-4 masses that were benign. That is such great news and very promising. Congratulations!
Were any of those for "irregular" masses? Did any of yours say the margins were "grade margins"? I can't even find what "grade" margins means. Does a rating of Bi-Rads 4 mean it is a 4A?
I had my first Breast MRI today and the results were made available within 2 hours. It said my right breast has:
IMPRESSION: There is a heterogeneous amount of fibroglandular tissue. There is moderate background parenchymal enhancement. There are multiple oval masses in the breast. There is an irregular mass with grade margins measuring 7 x 5 x 4 mm in the retro areolar breast 1.5 cm deep to the nipple (axial 281) with persistent enhancement kinetics. Limited assessment of signal on T2-weighted images due to slice selection.
FINDINGS: There is a unique/irregular retro areolar mass measuring 7 mm 1.5 cm deep to the nipple. Findings represent a suspicious abnormality. BI-RADS category 4. Image guided biopsy is recommended at this time. Recommend targeted ultrasound and ultrasound guided biopsy. If the ultrasound is negative then recommend MRI guided biopsy.
I am sitting here stressing out because Google AI told scary stuff, but due to the weekend, I don't expect to hear from my doctor for at least another 4 or more days.
The Left breast is also deemed BI-RADS 4 with the same recommendations, but that is because of a growth near to where a lumpectomy was. I am oddly not worried about that one as it doesn't state it is irregular.
Thank you in advance for your time and all those who share their experiences.
