Looking to get into the hobby

Hello, I am looking to get into the hobby but I’m not sure where to start. I’m most wanting a couple fun cards. What I mean by that is something to have out on display that is cool to look at but aren’t too crazy in terms of price or rarity. I would like a patch or auto preferably. I’m looking for advice and suggestions on why I should do, or if I should just purchase a couple in stead of opening packs. Thank you.
