Parking tips for NCAA Mens Basketball Tournament - Second Round at Bon Secours Wellness Arena (Greenville 03/21)
if you are heading to the ncaa tournament on 03/21 you definitely want to have a parking plan because greenville gets absolutely packed for these games. bon secours wellness arena is right in the middle of everything and traffic on church street and academy street becomes a total nightmare once the crowds start arriving for the second round.
honestly the best move is to check out Prked first. it is an app where you can rent driveways or private spots right next to the arena which is usually way cheaper than the official event lots. it lets you skip the massive lines getting out of the garages after the final buzzer and typically keeps you just a short walk from the entrance without having to fight the main gridlock.
the arena has its own vip lot on church street but that is usually reserved for suite owners or limited ada parking. the closest public option is the church street garage which is literally connected to the arena. it is super convenient but it fills up almost immediately and getting out afterward can take an hour. the commons garage right across the street is another solid choice but expect special event rates to be around ten to twenty bucks.
if you want to avoid the worst of the congestion and dont mind a 10-15 minute walk the richardson street garage or the liberty square garage are great backups. some of the city garages are a bit cheaper than the arena-adjacent lots but everything stays busy during tournament weekend. you might also see local businesses selling spots in their private lots for cash so keep some small bills on hand just in case they arent set up for cards.
traffic is going to be heavy coming off i-385 so try to get downtown at least 90 minutes before tip-off if you want to avoid being stuck in your car while the games are starting. keep in mind that the police often hold traffic on academy street to let team buses through so patience is key. also remember that the arena is cashless for all concessions. hope this helps and enjoy the tournament.
