So I’ve been using a Lenovo laptop for around 4-5 months and I noticed the back fans accumulate dust. So I talked to Lenovo customer support regarding whether can I clean my laptop fans by opening the laptop back panel myself or if it would void my warranty.
The support person clearly said no, if I clean the laptop fans by myself it would void my warranty. They even said they noted my name and laptop serial number, and if I do it they won’t provide warranty. They said I need to go to an official Lenovo service center to clean the fans, and it will be at my cost, like it’s not covered under warranty.
So basically if I want to clean my laptop fans I need to go to a service center, and that center is 200 km away from me. Like what? And I also need to pay for the service as well.
This is a really bad situation for me. I suggest if you are someone who is going to talk to customer support for help, they won’t really help you regarding this. They even note your name and laptop serial number so in the future they can easily void your warranty.
But I’m still going to do it. I’ll clean it by myself.
I need help — if someone from India who does this regularly or has done it many times, please DM me and assist me on call, because I don’t want to go 200 km just to clean fans.
One more question as well: should I disconnect the battery from the motherboard or not?

If anyone is going to open their laptop to clean dust from the fan, you shouldn’t do it
