Have we normalised traction alopecia?
I’ve noticed that so many women have hairlines that have receded quite a bit, yet they’re still going to the salon and getting heavy braids installed, then styling them into tight high buns. Is it because of habit or not knowing that some styles make things worse over time?
Same thing with lashes. There are so many horror stories about cheap lash installations where super glue is used instead of lash adhesive.
And don’t even get me started on nails. I once had a small part of my nail bed ripped off during a soak-off. The pain was intense!!!
Have we normalised damaging beauty practices? Can’t salons take the time to ensure the people they hire are properly trained?
