Compliment from a guy, being nice or interested?
So there’s this guy who I had previously seen around but not met. When we ran into each other alone he complimented something about my style saying it’s unique as I had something fun going on, and then after a brief conversation he introduced himself. I haven’t been complimented like this (without uncomfortable harrassment) before, and I thought the guy was super cute, so I got very excited and thought there was a chance he might be interested in me. So next time we ran into each other I asked for his contact info. We have been texting a bit but I can’t tell if he’s interested, he responds really late (like the next day, although with good responses) and hasn’t asked me out or anything close.
Now that i’ve read about this topic, it seems there is a conversation around whether a compliment is just that, or could mean something more. I’ve seen that most people, especially in the case of women giving the compliments, think you shouldn’t think of it as interest unless it’s explicit.
I’m neurodivergent and honestly can’t rationally interpret this. I don’t get crushes easily which is why I got so excited about this, but now I’m wondering if I misinterpeted a nice gesture and I feel like a gross guy now. Pls help <3
