Exalted planet in D1 shows outer strength | visible competence while the planet when debilitated in the D9 indicates of inner fragility | self doubt | deeper insecurity .

Take Mercury as an example:

if Mercury is exalted in D1, the person will appear exceptionally sharp | eloquent | and quick witted in communication | will be impressing others easily | imagine a magnetic persona but if Mercury is debilitated in D9, there will be underlying mental restlessness
| insecurity | will be causing them to second guess their own ideas | struggle with inner clarity | can lower self confidence in the long run .

Conversely, if Mercury is debilitated in D1 but exalted in D9, the individual will initially seem hesitant | cautious in expressing themselves | even reserved in learning anything we & social interaction can be awkward for them but their exalted D9 Mercury will equip them with deep analytical ability | wisdom that will surface later in life | problem solving skills that will emerge over time and thus will be allowing them to navigate complex situations with confidence.

Similarly, consider Moon: when exalted in D1, the native will appear emotionally balanced | nurturing | intuitive outwardly but when debilitated in D9,
they will often wrestle with inner insecurity | own emotional sensitivity | self doubt.

On the other hand, a Moon debilitated in D1 but exalted in D9 may not make the native immediately seem emotionally expressive | approachable yet internally they will possess remarkable emotional capabilities like intuition | mental stability that will surface with time & that this will act as a guide to help them navigate through challenges.

Between the two : planets debilitated in D1 & exalted in D9 will provide a deeper | endurance filled inner strength that will often outshine outward surface level brilliance.
