I have a sort of long winded question as a newcomer stepping outside of his comfort zone for this game

Question

I'm taking a leap of faith with "Tomodachi Life: Living the Dream" as the series has somehow piqued my interests since I sort of missed the 3DS era for whatever reason and in spite of the fact that I'm *not* really into "cozy" games of any sort. I think there's an element of unpredictable absurdity that has made me willing to step outside of my comfort zone and a feeling of wanting to check it out just to be a part of the hype that this game's super dedicated fanbase seems to have for it's upcoming release. I suppose you could say getting it "for the culture". I think if I didn't already do 100% of my gaming on the Switch 2 and weren't a massive Nintendo fan, I wouldn't even entertain the idea of getting this game. (As a sidenote and while I realize this is *much* different and hardly comparable, I got the new Fantasy Life and loved it, putting in just over 100 hours thus far and completing the main story. I only mention it because it has some of the characteristics in you might find in a game like Animal Crossing or Tomodachi life )

So with that sort of context as to what my connection is with this game, which is none lol, my main question is; will this be the sort of game where after not playing it for a little bit after it's initial release window, things will still develop behind the scenes when you're not actively playing the game? Considering the nature of Tomodachi Life, I'm opting to buy the game digitally which is something I *never* do with my games, unless I'm double dipping for a digital copy to have quicker access and I know I'm going to be putting hundreds and hundreds of hours over a long course of time, so typically I might do this with a multiplayer game. My thought process is that if the game is something that I can go back to in little doses here and there and things *do* happen even when you're not playing it, then I think I'll have more peace of mind buying it knowing that it can be a sort of fun surprise to pop my head back into from time to time much later down the line when I'm playing other games on my Switch 2.

I hope that makes sense, I just wanted to explain my lack of experience with these games so if my question seems stupid then you know why. Also just trying to wrap my head around the concept to make sure I'm at least getting a decent idea of what I'm getting myself into. Thanks in advance for any feedback.
