I just cant seem to wrap my head around this.....
Before i get on to the main point, i wanna discuss some points that are interlinked w it.
- ->Engenes and parasocialism (im pretty sure there's no such words but ill use it for convenience's sake)- I've been an engene for 3 years, and one thing ive noticed is the rampant parasocialism present in the fandom, and also the fact that the company encourages such behavior too. Like- engenes are very thoroughly embedded in the enhypen lore as en-'s female leads (Chloe in r:u concept cinema, Ae Eun Jin in En- drama, Sooha/ Selen(?) in Dark moon, etc). Given the circumstances, many engenes (especially heeseung and niki solo stans) are very VERY parasocial. A lot of people on the main kpop (kpopthoughts and kpop uncensored mainly) subs say that Hybe and Heeseung are prolly gonna incentivize on this factor of the fandom to launch Heeseungs (ill refer to him as hs from this point on) solo career, but the thing is these parasocial stans are EXTREME. They really seem to think that enhypen are their bfs or smth (speaking from personal experiences i had w some of these fans) and get very..... intense, to put it mildly, if they feel like theyve been betrayed. I hope we havent forgotten the hell that broke loose when Aespa's Winter and Jungwon had dating rumors, poor them. Neither of them could honestly live wo being bombarded. And that has already started w what i see on the k side- people r turning on Hs for leaving en- already. So, just why would that be a card to play?
- -> Idols who've been vague knowing they're going to be leaving- Smth that a lot of people have been mentioning is the fact that hs had been saying stuff abt staying w the team and engenes for a long time and these statements r being used to refute the "he left willingly" claims (can't say I don't see where they're coming from) and this got my head going for a lil spin. Now, ik and yk that the stuff hs was anything but vague. And that's one of the reasons k fans r turning on him, bc they're saying he's needlessly leading everyone on when he's not even going to be there. I wanted to mention this particular point bc this is the only experience ive had w an idol i liked leaving their group- enter Former Nmixx, current OWIS (cmiiw abt that name) Jini. I was a big nswer from the o.o era up until yds era so i was there when she left. I can't find the particular clip rn but a lot of people were digging up stuff to kind of, yk, try and understand if they missed smth like some kind of pointer indicating she was leaving (her departure was also, if not more. abrupt as hs') and there was this fancall vid going around where a fan was talking abt nmixx's future and Jini seemed silent, like i remember watching that vid and noticing her eyes. She looked like she was really sad abt it too, and she just kinda kept saying "mhm" or nodding along or smth. Another one from that time was this other clip going around of her being emotional at the last nmixx fansign (this is the only thing i could find rn, ill link the fancall vid if i can find it). People thought it was bc she was sad the promotion was ending, initially, before the bomb dropped. In comparison to how vague Jini was, Hs seemed pretty excited. He was literally talking to fans abt en-'s 10th anniversary and what they were gonna do, abt the Hi Melbourne concert (not specifically the concert but he said smth in the lines of "yall can expect good performances from us or smth"), his wv post in jan and he even went as far as to ask the master of one of his biggest fansites if they were coming to the May world tour. For someone that seemed so decided on leaving, i cant help but wonder why he'd do all that (i dont remember which one of the above instances it was but he'd said it in a fancall on 9th march. 9TH.). Again, some people on the main subs said "thats prolly fanservice he cant trash the company yk" and yes, im not going to discount that, but he very well was at the liberty of ignoring questions abt the group's future or staying vague like Jini did.
And finally, the main point - If Hs really wanted to leave that badly, why would he mention all that knowing he'd piss off the very fans that are crucial for him to make it as a soloist in korea?? One thing- they'll now frame him as some kind of liar and unreliable person. Thats not a good image to start out a solo career w no? As i said, a lot of k fans are already turning on him, calling him names that i dont even wanna quote. If he wanted to start off fresh as a soloist i think he would know he needs the k fans' support specially bc hes at square 1 again.
Before anyone comes at me and goes "ur denying his autonomy" or wtv bs the other subs seem to be saying to shut engenes (who sometimes r actually asking legit questions), I wanna make it very clear that i dont believe that Heeseung left on his own but i also dont believe the company forced him out. Im very much on the fence abt this entire situation. While ik ill be supporting Hs even if hes a soloist, its just the fact that the circumstances and the way this entire mess is being handled by belift is making me believe otherwise
(also the letter- i dont wanna mention this outside of parentheses bc its not a legit claim but it kinda makes sense- the handwriting does seem to differ quite a lot from the 5th anniversary letter, i myself discounted it saying it was just a darker pen but the more i see it the more i notice that his words were way more spaced out back in November than it is now. Looking a lil too deep? Maybe.)
If anyone wants to vent or share their feelings that are not just abt my post in particular, or share stuff that u dont think seem to add up, yall can use the comment section
Peace.
