Eviction?
Hi. I moved in with a friend (ex-boyfriend) about halfway through last year (I have absolutely been living here over 6 months-since at least June 2025) and he wants to kick me out now. He decided of his own volition to pay all the bills until I managed to get employed, which was two months ago. I made $8/hr plus tips so I make around $140 a week. We don’t pay anything separately, so I think it may be harmful for my case? He still pays for everything with HIS money, technically. I don’t give him cash—he pays from his pocket but we essentially share funds. What’s mine is his and what’s his is mine type of deal. He wants to kick me out because I’m “too mean and he’s tired of dealing with me going off on him.” This is in relation to things like doing the dishes, taking out the trash, cleaning up his own messes, establishing a comfortable temperature throughout the house. He also is not allowing me to use his car for transportation anymore until I start paying for insurance (I don’t have my own so I’m literally stuck here at the house unless he decides to be kind enough to drive me somewhere, and this was previously not an issue. I have driven his car multiple times with AND without him with no complaints.) I just got a job as stated two months ago but now he wants to get rid of me. We also have four cats, one of which is mine and the other three are his. Our deal was that I pay the Wi-Fi bill and I also pay for the cat’s food and litter since I make significantly less than he does, to which I have been starting to do as of the last (at least) couple weeks. I have yet to pay the Wi-Fi bill as it comes at the end of the month, but as previously stated, I have no way to financially prove this. I do however have this location as my address and I get mail here. It’s on my driver’s license as well, among other things. Is it in my legal rights to take him to court over this?
