Why ppl in India are so obsessed with having male child

Pata hai Aaj kya hua one of my distant relative, they welcomed a newborn child and it's a boy for whom they were very sure from starting that it's gonna be a boy . when this family got 2nd daughter they said like we used to worship alot still got the girl child wtf is this mentality of ppl nowadays. This family owns lot's of generational wealth and all are educated there still this.
