Why do people play this game?

I’m genuinely curious why people still choose to spend their free time playing Overwatch.

I started playing when the original game came out (around 2nd/3rd grade for me). It was one of my first real online multiplayer experiences, and I played competitive on and off all the way up until Overwatch 2. I’m not usually someone who relies on nostalgia, but the game honestly feels worse than it used to.

The shift to 5v5 is the biggest thing for me. Playing tank just feels miserable now, especially if you used to enjoy off-tank. That role basically disappeared, and a lot of what made tank synergy fun is gone.

I’ve played plenty of other hero shooters too, so it’s not like I just dislike the genre. But when I look at Overwatch now, all I see is wasted potential. The gameplay loop feels weaker, the skins are overpriced, and the story content hasn’t been enough to keep me invested.

I even introduced some of my friends to the game back in the day and they still play it. But personally, I just can’t bring myself to.
