Low YOE in tech is not a problem. I've seen how it works

I've been conducting interviews for 3 years now. And I'm noticing people with 10-15+ YOE being rejected, while 2+ YOE showing higher AI adoption are getting through. But the general sentiment I hear about junior engineers are no longer needed is not entirely true. The traditional rounds haven't gone anywhere. You still go through the old technical and HR pre-screening rounds. What has changed is the new addition of an on-site "AI adoption" round. The playing field is so flat right now, I've never seen this before. An experienced engineer who crushes every round except AI adoption? Internal discussion: "not willing to change their way". A young person experimenting with AI from their apartment bedroom? "flexible and ready to adapt to the new world". The questions around AI adoption are evaluating if you think about AI as a chatbot or as an AI system. You will get through. I'm not exaggerating. Just present half-knowledge on MCPs, workflows, and context files - you will get through. Out of the 15 I've interviewed lately, only 2 even mentioned context files and workflows. The bar is that low. This window will shrink soon as people start to share their interview experience, so use it now! I hope this post encouraged junior engineers because you can literally spin up a team of five agents and get more done in less time. It's really not about YOE; the corporate process is about adoption and finding the future of coders to make room for existing ones to promote and become a coach.
