What is the best entry in the Growlanser series available in English to start with?

Essentially as the title says.

I am going through backlogs of older consoles of games to play and the Growlanser series pops up on occasion as I am a fan of both RPG's and Strategy games and most of the series seems to fall into that category.

However looking at footage/screenshots it looks a bit confusing, so I figure I want to start with the right entry to give me the best chance of enjoying.

So for fans of the series where do you suggest is a good starting point for a game that is available in English be it official or a fan translation?
