We live in the same town but I’m scared to meet her.
I have an online friend on Instagram and we’ve been talking for a while. The thing is, we actually live in the same town. Recently I’ve started feeling like she wants to meet in real life and maybe take things further. She has been giving small hints about meeting up. The problem is that I’m honestly scared. I feel like my online and offline personalities are kind of different, especially when it comes to how I look. Online you can control angles, photos, how you present yourself, but in real life it’s obviously different. Because of that, I keep thinking that when she actually sees me in person she might be shocked or disappointed. That thought makes me really anxious. So lately I’ve been avoiding the idea of meeting and even talking to her a bit less because I don’t want her to get more attached if things don’t work out. I don’t know if I’m overthinking this or protecting both of us. Has anyone else experienced something like this?
