Would you use a tool that explains contracts in plain English before you sign them?
I’ve been thinking about something and wanted honest feedback.
A lot of people sign agreements without really understanding them. Things like:
- job offers
- freelance contracts
- rental agreements
- NDAs
- SaaS terms and conditions
- loan agreements
Most people either skim them or don’t read them at all because they’re long and written in legal language.
I’m considering building a simple tool where you upload a document and it would:
• summarize the contract in plain English
• highlight risky clauses
• flag things like non-compete, penalties, termination conditions
• give a simple risk score
The idea would be something like:
“Before you sign anything, run it through this first.”
Not trying to replace lawyers, just helping people understand what they’re signing.
My question is:
Would you actually use something like this?
If yes, when was the last time you signed something you didn’t fully understand?
Also curious if people would pay a few dollars to analyze a contract instead of paying a lawyer.
Really just trying to understand if this is a real problem or if I’m overthinking it.
