PC audio issue- All music and sounds come through fine, but voices specifically get muffled out?

Hardware

Hi there. I saw a thread similar to this question existed, but that was from 10 years ago and the troubleshooting I tried with past and current methods has yielded no results. As described in the title, all audio works perfectly fine on my PC except for voices. Call, video, music, all of it. The moment someone is speaking, it immediately tries to muffle it out, usually sounding quite garbly in the process.

I have tried:

  • restarting
  • unplugging and replugging the audio device
  • disabling and re-enabling the device
  • Adjusting audio balance settings
  • checking for and installing any available driver updates (fully updated, still nothing)
  • just about any other audio troubleshooting method that I could find on the internet.

For context, I literally got this PC today. It's running Windows 11 home. I have had no other issues with this PC, aside from this audio issue it has been running great.

I have been using a wired headset that I had zero issues with on my old PC. My speakers don't work either. When plugged in, they make a buzzing sound and that's it. I have not tried bluetooth devices for speaker/headset as my bluetooth headphones got left at another family member's house and I don't have a bluetooth speaker to test with.

Any ideas?

(please forgive me if another recent thread exists, I did not find it myself but please feel free to direct me there if it exists..!)
