Getting my vehicle registered next month after 8 months of driving on expired tags due to a hold with the NTTA, am starting to worry I won't make it until April 1st.
Long story short, I accumulated over $5,000 of toll fees in 3 years. My registration has been blocked and I am banned from driving on any NTTA toll road. The time has come that I am finally going to be able to pay the down payment of $1,500 to get the hold lifted.
I am really worried though that I won't make it until April 1st. I am terrified that I will actually lose my car. Am worried if I get pulled over and towed, they would want the entire $5,000 balance in full plus the registration before getting the car back.
Its sad because I drive a nice car, a 2021 Rav 4. I really hope nothing happens.
My dad won't even help me out. He refuses to even loan me a dime. I am so screwed if I lose my car. I can't take out a loan because my credit is so bad and am in so much debt.
Has anyone been in my situation where they got towed and lost their car and it changed your life for the worst? Ive tried explaining to the NTTA my situation and they dont seem to care and sometimes even ignore me for several seconds.
I wish I still lived in Phoenix where it was more affordable. DFW is crazy expensive, even more than California. At least California doesnt have toll roads that are mandatory.
