Drivers that cancel scheduled rides at the last minute (<5-10 minutes before the ride) are the WORST.
Yes, I know they get a nasty gram from Lyft, but I don’t really think they care. I’ll accept a ride only to find out it was a scheduled ride and that I’m not going to be able to make the pick up time the pax expected. The pax are always irritated when they get in the car (as I would be), and many think I’m the one that was late. I smooth it over, but it sucks. I know things happen, but not as often as I’m picking up the driver’s slack. There should be a more progressive penalty for drivers based on how close to the scheduled time they cancel. Not sure what it should be, but canceling a scheduled ride they accepted is so lame.
Had one today that was an airport ride. The fares to the airport in ATL are weak, but if it’s in the right part of town, I know I’m almost always going to get a decent tip. Same with airport pickups. Fares suck, but pax in upper middle class+ neighborhoods tip well. The pax today weren’t good planners. Consequently, by the time I picked them up 15 minutes after their scheduled pick up time, we were cutting it pretty close to them being able to get to the airport and still make their flight. Got them there and they gave me a $20 tip, but it blows that they were put in that position to begin with.
