How would you market a trivia + poker style web game with no budget?
I’m a solo developer and recently launched a small web app called quizpoker.app. I’m currently trying to figure out how to market it effectively without a real marketing budget and would love some feedback.
The concept of the game is a mix of trivia, estimation, and poker mechanics:
-
Everyone answers an estimation question, for example:
“How tall is the Eiffel Tower in meters?”
-
After submitting their guess, players bet poker chips based on how confident they are in their answer.
They can Fold (give up), Call (match the bet), or Raise (increase the bet).
-
The twist: there are four betting rounds, and in each round new hints are revealed (for example ranges, comparisons, or fun facts). Players can adjust their strategy as they learn more.
-
At the end, the closest guess wins the pot.
The idea is that knowledge helps, but confidence, bluffing, and reading other players also matter, similar to poker.
Right now I’m experimenting with:
- Reddit posts
- a small Google Ads campaign
- a referral system (players earn free credits when friends buy credits)
- basic SEO around trivia / quiz games
For people who have marketed small games or web apps before:
- What channels worked best for you early on?
- What type of content tends to work best?
- Is Reddit actually sustainable for growth or mostly good for initial traction?
- Would short-form video (TikTok/Reels) be the better route for a social game like this?
Would love to hear your thoughts or suggestions.
