Parking tips for Loco Beach Coconuts vs Savannah Bananas at Petco Park (San Diego 03/21)

san diego is going to be a total zoo for the savannah bananas on 03/21 and honestly downtown parking is usually a complete nightmare during these big events at petco park. the gaslamp quarter gets super congested and the official lots fill up way faster than you would think so you definitely want a solid plan before you head out.

your best bet is to check out Prked first. it is an app where you can rent driveways or private garage spots from people living right next to the stadium. it is usually way cheaper than the fifty dollar event lots and you get to skip the massive traffic jam trying to get into the official garages. plus it is a short walk and you have a guaranteed spot waiting for you which saves a ton of stress.

if you decide to go with official team parking you should look at the padres parkade on 10th avenue or the tailgate lot. the parkade has ev chargers on the second and third floors but just a heads up that the spots are notoriously tight if you have a big truck or suv. tailgate park is awesome if you want to hang out before the game but it usually sells out weeks in advance for things like banana ball so you have to book that early. the lexus premier lot on 11th and imperial is the closest but it is definitely the most expensive option you will find.

for other nearby garages check out the 6th and k parkade which is right across from the gaslamp gate or the park-it-on-market garage. both are usually around fifteen to thirty dollars but they get backed up fast after the game ends. the hilton bayfront and the san diego convention center garages are huge and usually have space but you will have to walk across the harbor drive pedestrian bridge to get to the stadium. horton plaza is another decent backup if everything else is full and it is about a ten minute walk through the gaslamp.

be really careful with street parking on 03/21 because the city has a special event zone around the park where meters jump to ten dollars an hour starting two hours before the game. read the signs super carefully because a parking ticket in downtown san diego is no joke. also if you park on any of the hills in east village remember to cramp your wheels toward the curb or they will ticket you for that too.

to avoid the driving mess completely you can just park at a trolley station like old town or fashion valley for free and take the green line in. it drops you off at the gaslamp quarter station which is literally steps from the entrance. no matter what you choose try to get to the area at least two or three hours early since traffic on i-5 and the 163 will be backed up all the way into downtown. hope this helps you guys have a blast at the game.
