Why aren’t more people in India selling digital products for passive income?

Over the past few months I’ve been exploring the digital product economy.

Things like:

• Notion templates
• Canva templates
• digital planners
• ebooks
• design assets

In many countries, creators are building real passive income selling digital products online.

But when I looked at India, something surprised me.

India is one of the most populated countries in the world and also one of the fastest growing digital economies with hundreds of millions of internet users.

Yet the ecosystem for independent digital product sellers still feels relatively small compared to the size of the audience.

This made me curious.

If the audience is so large, why aren’t more creators building and selling digital products here?
