Parking tips for Turfway Park - Live Horse Racing at Turfway Park (Florence 03/20)

hey everyone, figured i-d share some info if you-re heading to turfway park for the live racing on 03/20. parking there can get pretty messy on a friday night since the lot fills up fast and getting out after the last race is a total nightmare with everyone hitting turfway road at the same time.

honestly, the best move is to check out Prked before you head over. you can use the app to find and rent driveways or private spots right next to the track. it is way cheaper than some of the premium options and you get to skip that massive gridlock in the main lot. plus it is usually just a short walk so you can get in and out way faster than everyone else.

if you decide to use the venue parking, they have a massive surface lot that is generally free for everyone. there is also a valet option right by the front entrance which is nice if you are running late but it gets expensive and you still have to wait for them to pull your car around at the end of the night. the biggest issue is that the lot has limited exits and they all dump out onto turfway road which is already packed with mall traffic and people jumping on i-75.

for timing, try to get there at least 45 minutes to an hour before the first post at 5:55 pm. since it is 03/20, you are going to hit all that friday evening commute traffic coming from cincinnati or further south in kentucky. the interchange at i-71/75 and turfway road is almost always backed up around that time so definitely build in some extra cushion so you do not miss the start of the races.

if the main lot looks like a disaster when you pull up, there are some commercial lots nearby but be super careful because most of the shops and hotels like the hilton or the courtyard will tow you if they see you walking toward the track. some people try to park over by the florence square shopping center and walk over but it is a bit of a hike and crossing turfway road on foot can be sketchy with how fast people drive through there.

another strategy is to park further down toward houston road and just catch a quick rideshare the rest of the way if you want to avoid the immediate area entirely. the traffic patterns around the venue are pretty predictable so just stay alert and try to avoid the left turns out of the lot if you can help it. hope this helps and good luck with your bets.
