Should I tell my husband I’m having a terrible time with kids while he’s travelling?
My husband is away on a sort of a work trip, which we knew about since October so it’s been a long time coming. He also added two days extra to enjoy the destination, which is fair as it’s a 9h flight. He will be gone for 6 and a half days.
We have 2 kids, one of them is just over a year. The older one was pretty sick before he left, high fevers which we expected to settle after his departure but they went on for 2-3 more days, had to start an antibiotic which I was giving to her at night, and then also getting up with the one year old who was waking a lot (and also has a terrible cough). I think I’m getting like 3h of sleep each night. I think all that brought on a migraine which I got through yesterday, now I’m under the weather myself.
I want to tell him how much this whole thing has sucked - and I mean he knows about the fever etc. but I feel like I want to tell him this has been horrible and how much I’m suffering for his nice trip. But I also want him to have a decent time on his trip - it’s not that often he gets to get away. But should I really suffer through all of this? My mum is here to help for a few days but she can’t get up at night to give medicine or put the baby back to sleep. But it’s amazing the help I’m getting with meals etc.
I feel like he almost doesn’t want to know too many details? Would expect more phone calls etc. but maybe it’s better to just tell him all when he’s back? What can he really do from overseas?
I feel it’s unfair because if it was the other way around I’d probably cut my trip short, or even reconsider going at all (as the fevers started before his departure). He often encourages to me to take time off etc so he’s not a ‘bad guy’ but I do feel like I got a major short end of the stick here. Should I tell him now and unload the suck-iness of the whole thing or wait till he’s back?
