Was Stephen King’s writing slightly denser in the 90’s?

Every book I read from the 90’s era, especially Bag of Bones, Wizard and Glass and Rose Madder feel different in style, while retaining his Stephen Kingness. More wordy than his earlier stuff or his post accident work.
