not sure if my mom's reaction means i should come out

Trans Feminine

hey everyone, so i'm jess and i'm 25. i've been wanting to tell my mom that i'm trans for months now but keep chickening out because i was terrified she'd react badly or just not get it at all.

anyway, yesterday we were having coffee and i decided to test teh waters by asking what she thought about transgender people in general. at first she got confused and thought i meant like drag performers or people who crossdress for fun, so i had to explain the difference and talk about gender dysphoria and everything.

her response kind of shocked me though. she said people should be free to live as whoever they are, and if someone feels that way and has the means to transition, then good for them. but then she said something that really caught me off guard - she mentioned that if one of her kids came to her after 25+ years and said they were trans, she'd obviously love and support them but it would take some adjustment time since she's been seeing them one way for so long.

the weird part is i never brought up anything about family or her kids specifically, so now i'm wondering if she suspects something?

i'm really torn because her response was way more positive than i expected, but i'm still nervous about actually telling her. do you think this sounds promising enough that i should go for it soon? or should i wait longer?
