Does anyone else have a baby that eats to live and not lives to eat?

Discussion

So I took my 3 month old for a feeding evaluation because I cut dairy and I just worry about his percentiles because he dropped a good amount, but is in the 6-7 (lol) percentile. Doctor said she doesn’t want him dropping anymore than that.

The IBCLC I saw is amazing. I love her. She said that he stops short when he eats, so it could be down regulating my milk supply. Luckily he is transferring well, but I always have to relatch him as she also saw. She suggested pumping 1-3 times a day after breastfeeding and giving him the milk I pumped through the day in a bottle to him after I nurse him for the last time at night that way he get melatonin milk and some extra calories. I usually pump 1-3oz in total throughout the day when I pump after a feed. Whether I’m able to pump 1,2 or 3 times a day varies a lot .

I had to bait and switch him there with a pacifier. Sometimes I have to do this at home too. He gets very distracted and overstimulated lately because I have 2 other little boys at home that are so distracting. I can’t go in another room to feed him throughout the day usually.

It makes me sad that he doesn’t just take the boob when I offer it. I have to bait and switch him a lot or keep relatching him. She said he lives to eat and not eats to live. I have so much anxiety about him gaining weight.

If anyone has any tips or advice or support I’d love to hear about it.
