What was the adjustment period like after your smile makeover; emotionally, socially, all of it?

Got veneers done a couple of months ago. Results are genuinely good, my dentist in Gurgaon was thorough, showed me previews, did not push anything unnecessary. The procedure itself was way less dramatic than I had imagined.

But now I keep catching myself in mirrors and not fully recognising my own smile. Not in a bad way. Just a very strange "oh, that is me now" feeling. Some friends noticed immediately. One asked if I had "done something" and when I said yes she said it looked natural, which I think was a compliment.

I have approximately 4000 old photos where I am smiling with my mouth closed, so this is a significant change for me personally. I do not regret it. I just did not expect the after part to feel this real.

Curious how other people navigated this. The social part, the emotional part, how long it took to feel like your own face again.
