Think twice before buying an Ultrahuman Ring. My nightmare experience with 5 different rings and an expanding battery.
I was unable to post to the main Ultrahuman forum because I don't have enough Karma, which is stupid, but what ever.
I’m making this post as a warning for anyone considering getting an Ultrahuman Ring. I’ve had nothing but constant hardware issues since I bought into their ecosystem. To their credit, their customer support team is genuinely great and very friendly, but their actual product is awful.
Over the lifespan of my warranty, I went through five different rings. Here is the timeline of how they failed.
- Ring 1 (Original): Stopped connecting entirely within 2 months. Support sent a replacement
-Ring 2: Completely stopped working within 1 month.
- Ring 3: This ring was good, until the battery life got bad, after a few months it lasting maybe 2 days max.
- Ring 4: Stopped working within 2 months**.**
- Ring 5 (Final): This one actually lasted a decent amount of time, but recently, it just stopped connecting completely.
When this 5th ring died, I contacted support again. Initially, they offered me a used replacement ring, which I was willing to accept. But then they proceeded to take the offer back, telling me I was now out of warranty, and left me with nothing at all.
The Scary Part (Fire Hazard?): Recently, I tried connecting to one of my older dead rings just to see if it would work. It actually connected fine at first, but then it started getting incredibly hot. I noticed the battery had expanded a LOT, to the point where it got physically stuck on the charger and formed massive bumps on the ring itself. After that, it stopped working entirely again. This is the ring in the photo. (I will be reporting this to the CPSC)
If you're on the fence about buying one, save your money, or get an Oura ring, or any other brand. It’s not worth the constant hardware failures, and an expanding battery on a device you wear on your finger while you sleep is a massive safety concern.
