Well, that Fujimaster is having problems, we all know that. It’s kind of obvious. Even with the art quality being way below what it used to be, and with fewer pages too, two weeks, one for each 15 pages, the chapter still came out full of mistakes, with missing colors, missing drawings, and so on.

But above all, what feels the strangest to me is how much this looks like a satire. Chainsaw Man has always had room for sadness and emotional moments, even being a work that leans heavily into humor. Reze’s arc itself is full of contemplative moments. Tatsuki Fujimoto is an extremely creative, brilliant guy who builds deep and controversial stories.

But this ending, for someone who loves movies, feels like way too much of a coincidence, guys. Anyone who is even minimally an active and critical film consumer has already made a joke similar to this ending, and that’s the point. It feels like a message, a satire, not an actual ending to the work.

1. We have a whole sequence of events built only to bring together fanservice, with no explanation or logic we can imagine. Denji is found dead by Power just because, Power gets attached to Denji because of a dog smell just because, Nayuta is in Makima’s place and finds them just because, and then one of their first missions happens to be at Asa Mitaka’s school just because, and then comes the climax.
2. Denji bumps into Asa in the MOST CLICHÉ way ever seen in cinema. The classic “he caught her before she hit the ground.” And that’s even though, visually, Bucky poses no real danger. All of this exists only to build a basic romantic shock and, of course, create the perfect setup for the main dialogue of the chapter, which is ALSO a cliché, a satire of bad dialogue. The classic Fantastic Four-style line “What am I, some kind of Chainsaw Man?”

It’s way too much coincidence, guys. I’m not implying anything here. It could be the real ending, it could be an April Fools’ joke, it could be the Nightmare Devil theory, it could be many things.

The only thing that feels very strange to point out is how obvious it is that this ending is a satire, a joke, and everyone is taking it very seriously. I don’t know if it’s because the manga community is, obviously, made up more of manga readers than film enthusiasts, but in a film community this would already be extremely obvious to everyone.

In my opinion, this wasn’t an ending, it was a message. I don’t know Tatsuki Fujimoto’s life or health condition, but it’s clearly a message. I’ll wait to be sure it’s not an April Fools’ joke, but he’s clearly trying to say something.

That something could be “Look guys, I made the story too dense and convoluted, and Chainsaw was always about entertainment, so I don’t see another way to end it other than laughing and keeping things light. What better world for Denji than something like one of those bad movies he loves so much?” or something like that. Or it could just be that he got tired and gave up, but I find that unlikely. I think he takes himself seriously as a professional to do something like that.

**Also, I think it’s important to point out that this is not a criticism of any of you who liked it, nor am I saying the ending is bad. On the contrary, it’s a great ending. It wraps things up while keeping the series’ tone intact, with humor as always, and more than that, it resolves everything that was left open precisely by making those things have never happened. It’s a funny, bold, and intelligent ending that, whether you like it or not, stays true to the spirit of Chainsaw Man and to Tatsuki Fujimoto’s style as an author.**

**So don’t feel attacked. This is more of an analysis than a criticism.**

It’s weird how this ending feels more like a parody, or a satire, of bad movies (And how we’re actually buying into it)
