Thinking about starting a small dementia day program in Boise. Would love honest input from caregivers
Hi all, I’m hoping to learn from people who are actually going through this.
I’m a nurse with a background in emergency care and I’ve spent the past few years working on ways to better support families caring for loved ones at home. I’m exploring the idea of starting a small, calm, home-like day program in Boise for older adults with early to mid dementia, as well as those who need some help with daily activities.
The goal wouldn’t be a large or institutional place. More like a small group (8–10 people max), structured days, and a space that actually feels comfortable and respectful.
Before I go any further, I really want to understand what this looks like from a caregiver’s perspective.
If you’re caring for a parent, spouse, or family member, I’d really appreciate your thoughts:
- What is the hardest part of your day right now?
- Have you looked into adult day care or similar programs? What was that experience like?
- What made you trust or NOT trust those options?
- What would make something like this actually helpful vs just another thing to manage?
- If you had a few hours of reliable help during the week, what would that change for you?
- What would feel like a reasonable price vs too expensive?
I’m not selling anything and this may not even happen, I just want to understand what people actually need before building anything.
If you’d be open to sharing here or even chatting for 15–20 minutes, I’d really appreciate it. You can also DM me if that’s easier.
Thank you
