my metaphor to help people understand gender identity
firstly, you must know what a skittle is. a sweet, of coarse. people generally assume that a red skittle is strawberry flavored and a blue skittle is blueberry flavored.
so lets say that a cis gendered girl would be a blue, blueberry flavored skittle (i don't like gendering colors.) and a cis gendered boy would be a red, strawberry flavored skittle. now lets say a transgender girl would be a red, blueberry skittle and a trans boy would be a blue strawberry skittle.
this means that the skittles color resembles a persons biological sex and the flavor represents a persons gender identity.
a gender fluid skittle might change flavors over time while their color stays the same
a pan-gender skittle might be a mix of all flavors
a non binary skittle might be a mix of strawberry and blueberry flavors
an agender skittle might have no flavor
an intersex skittle might be purple, or half red and half blue
of coarse its not a perfect metaphor, but i hope it helps.
