Power steering help
Hello all, I am working on my ‘91 pickup(22re 4x4). I have recently completed a full reseal and bearing replacement on my power steering pump and have been rewarded with ZERO power steering for my labors. Before, my power steering was working great, the pump was just leaking on the alternator, and I figured I better take care of it before it gets too hot to wrench on it outside. The pump is not leaking, and I believe I did everything correctly—I have cycled the steering chock to chock about 30+ times with the front end lifted and haven’t noticed any major bubbles, though the level does rise and fall with the wheel turns(expected). I did disconnect the return line leading to the reservoir and there was a slight amount of fluid in there. I’m at my wits end with trying to figure out what could’ve gone wrong—has anyone else experienced this and know of the solution? I always do all my labor myself on the truck with the help of posts on this forum and have always come out on top but this has me wanting to call my local repair shop and throw in the towel completely.
