I love the content Soundbooth puts out, but the app is a bit rough

I found my way to Soundbooth the same way most people probably did, Matt Dinniman books. I finished with DCC and decided to check out kaiju battlefield surgeon, but with it unavailable on Audible I found my way here. I've been ... less than happy with the app experience and I wanted to start a thread about it just to share these experiences. I realize that Soundbooth doesn't have the legion of developers that Amazon does for their app, so I don't expect quite as polished of an experience, but with that said there's no harm in at least mentioning some of the UX things I've noticed.

  • Chapters - these don't seem to advance automatically in the Android app. I bought the entire kaiju book series, and they appear to be contiguous in terms of the actual audio (in that, they don't have an intro before every new chapter), but they still don't advance, even if all of them are downloaded

  • Android Auto - This works, kind of. You can't see your library at all, but if you get something to play on the phone app it will give you play/pause and 15sec skip buttons on the screen.

  • While we are on the subject of car playback, I have ... more of a suggestion than a bug: Car Mode. Look, I really like the immersion tunnel aspect of audiobooks, but not all scenarios are appropriate for it. I consume audiobooks in my car for ~1hr each day, and during that time I'd love for there to be the option to turn all of that off as a layer and just get dialogue. If it's raining or noisy outside I don't want to have to strain to hear the dynamics, I want everything normalized. When the kaiju's heart is beating loudly, I don't want to second guess whether my car is making a new noise that I should be aware of. These are things I enjoy in most other situations, but I'm sure that in the production process they are abstracted as another layer on top of the voice track, so why not give users the option to toggle them on/off situationally?

  • The app itself seems to take an inordinately long time to open, even on a brand new flagship phone.

  • If I accidentally force close the app, I've had it lose my place a few times. This is probably the biggest deal of all the above bugs, because losing your place in an audiobook is pretty painful from a user's perspective, it can be hard to establish a previous context.

Again, I love the content here and I'll probably continue to purchase books through Soundbooth... I just wish the overall experience were a bit more polished.
