Why do we, as a society, praise military service so much?
It's a job. Most people I've known in the military just didn't know what to do out of high school, so the military gave them a pathway to be successful. Most of our military will never see combat so the "they risk their lives for our freedom" stuff sounds disingenuous. I also don't know why we claim they protect our freedoms when that hasn't really been the case in several generations. Trump wants to replace Pride Month with Military Month (we already have multiple veteran's holidays. It's never made sense to me.
